IBM Licensing
To meet the needs of companies of any size, IBM has simplified the
Passport Advantage Licensing Program. PA is usable for the purchase of
IBM software licenses and Maintenance plans for IBM Websphere, Data,
Lotus, Tivoli, Rational and Informix. With the sum of your software
purchases, you qualify for a better price ranking. Software Maintenance
ensures that you receive the latest version of the above products,
together with technical support.
Software Maintenance - and this applies to both IBM PA contract options
- is valid for a full 12 months from the day of purchase of the license.
It includes both time-unlimited access to telephone support from the
IBM Software Technical Support Centers for suitably authorised members
of staff, a designated technical contact on site, and also additional
round the clock (24 x 7) troubleshooting support for applications
critical to business.
There are two kinds of agreement for Passport Advantage:
Passport Advantage (PA)
Customers who were allocated to price rankings BL, D to J or EDU up
until 4 May 2003 or new customers who were awarded more than 500 points
for their first order are handled on the basis of the IBM PA agreement
model. As before, this requires a contractual agreement between the end
customer and IBM. For recalculating the purchasing ranking on the
anniversary date ofthe agreement, it is only the number of points from
transactions in the previous year that continues to count. If the
discount is reduced, however, it can only be reduced by one price
level. The purchasing level can be improved at any time, however, and
is checked after every transaction. In order to bring individual
transactions after the end of the 12-month term of the maintenance plan
into line with a PA anniversary date specified by the client.
Passport Advantage Express (PAE)
New customers who are awarded less than 500 points with their first
order qualify for Passport Advantage Express. With PAE there is only
one price ranking: SRP.
No contractual agreement is required - it suffices to register the
customer’s data (including name and email address of customer’s
purchasing and technical contacts) when ordering. The Maintenance plan,
withunlimited support and update service, is valid for 12 full months
from the date the license was purchased. There is no anniversary date
for the Passport Advantage Express (PAE) option - each transaction is
valid for 12 full months
